Cross Country Skiing

The Gunflint Trail is special as we are near the top of the Laurentian divide, one of the highest points in Minnesota. Worrying about a snowy season is never a problem for us as we are white capped with an average of over 100 inches of whispery powder throughout each winter, so come out and enjoy the snow!

Over 180km of groomed trails organized into three areas: Central Gunflint Trails managed by Golden Eagle Lodge and Bearskin Lodge, Banadad Trail managed by the Banadad Ski Trail Association, and Upper Gunflint Trails managed by Gunflint Pines and Gunflint Lodge. Contact these businesses for passes and maps. Visit Cook County maintains a webpage with the most recent snow reports.

Trail Conditions

At the beginning of the Gunflint Trail, where the trail meets the town of Grand Marais, you’ll find even more trails – Bally Creek Trails, Pincushion Mountain Trails, and George Washington Memorial Forest. Contact Visit Cook County for more information.
