Where Is Your Next Adventure?

The Gunflint Trail is a northeastern Minnesota destination of a different nature, where moose, loons, warblers, Goshawks, and Boreal Owls out-number the human population. The north woods and boundary water lakes are full of exciting things to do spring, summer, fall, and winter (and remember, we get a LOT of snow here!)
Thinking about planning a vacation? Then you’ll want information on lodging, dining, canoe trips, camping, and year-round events. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon on the Gunflint Trail.

Winter on the Gunflint

Winter on the Gunflint Trail offers the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Spend your days cross-country skiing or snowmobiling through the boreal forest, then warm up by the fire in one of our welcoming lodges or cabins. Local restaurants and bars serve up great food, cold drinks, and the kind of friendly conversation that makes strangers feel like old friends. It’s a genuine Northwoods winter experience.

Driveway to the Boundary Waters

The moose are out, with their new brown coats, and long-legged youngsters. There’s always a good chance to spot them where cattails grow, in wet areas. So take it slow and watch the side of the road for tracks in the soft shoulder. Stop by the moose-viewing area half-way up the Gunflint Trail, and follow the trails. This area is full of wildflowers, birds, and, if you are lucky, moose!

Memories, stories, and good family fun. Take the mystery out of camping in the BWCAW. Not everyone grew up camping and paddling in the Boundary Waters but with a little help, almost everyone has a great experience. Spend healthy, quality time with your kids. Leave the distractions behind and enjoy making memories this summer in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northern Minnesota.

The Gunflint Trail is a Minnesota Scenic Byway. The 57-mile-long paved road winds its way from Grand Marais on the north shore of Lake Superior, to Saganaga Lake near the Canadian border.
